Movie #13 : Wildflower

When I found out this movie was based on a true story, I teared up a bit because the story was so emotional. The main character went through so much on her own and is very resilient. I originally watched clips of this movie on TikTok which is how I found out about it. I have been planning on watching it for a while, so this morning I decided to put it on with my sister. She loved it as well. "Wildflower" was released in 2023 and directed by Matt Smukler.  The movie starts out with the love story between Sharon and Derek who get married and have a child named Bambi, Bea for short. The only difference with Sharon and Derek's story is that both of them are mentally disabled here they have the brain of a child. Bea grows up to be an independent young woman who helps take care of her parents. But suddenly she lands in a coma. You will spend going back and forth from the past leading up to the coma to Bea's inner monologue inside the coma. I really enjoyed how the story go...

Movie #12 : No Hard Feelings

"No Hard Feelings" directed by Gene Stupnitsky and was released into theaters in June of 2023. Now I was putting of seeing this movie, so I bought it at home with my family off Amazon Prime from $16.99. I really like Jennifer Lawrence, but I was not sure if the plot was for me. I am not a huge fan of age gap movies, but this one... it was funny. In "No Hard Feelings" J-Law plays 32-year-old Maddie who is originally from Montauk. She is an Uber driver until one day her car gets impounded for unpaid property taxes. Many rich families have been buying summer homes in Montauk, making it impossible for locals to live there. One of these families is selling their old Buick in exchange for dating their 19-year-old son, Percy, and taking his virginity before college. Maddie pursues Percy but he is awkward and wants to get to know her before they are intimate. This pushes Maddie to do some reflection, but also sends both of them into hilarious situations. But Percy's le...

Movie #11 : You are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah

I was really skeptical about this movie because it is an Adam Sandler film and those tend to be...bad. No offense to Adam Sandler, he's a great actor but many of his movies that he produced are boy funny. Movies I like to say are only funny to immature boys. I think I liked this one because it centers around girls and what it's like to be a middle school girl. One of the toughest times in a girl's life. "You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah" was directed by Sammi Cohen in 2023 and was released to Netflix next week. The story follows Stacey, a girl in 7th grade who is in the midst of planning her Bat Mitzvah. She is on the geekier side and dreams of social climbing. She also has a crush on Andy Goldfarb, the hottest boy in 7th grade. But when her crush for him dies and she sees her best friend Lydia kissing him, she uninvites her from her Bat Mitzvah. They have been best friends for forever and are helping each other plan their Bat Mitzvahs. Will they be able ...

Podcast #1 : Scamanda

This is my first podcast post as I am not a frequent podcast listener but this was recommended to me by a friend. I finished it up today on my walk and the whole thing made me mad. If I ever meet this Amanda girl, I swear. The podcast was produced in May 2023 by Charlie Webster. She talks us through the whole situation. Do not get thrown off by the fact that she is British, this incident occurs in the US. It is a true crime case that has you asking so many questions. The case starts with an email sent to Nancy, an investigative journalist who states that a woman by the name of Amanda C. Reilly does not have cancer. Nancy begins her deep dive into Amanda's blog which posts daily updates of her treatments. Amanda is constantly asking for donations as well for either chemo or new drug trials or to pay for her house. Amanda has 2 boys with her husband Corey and a "bonus daughter" named Jessa, who is Corey's daughter with his ex-wife Alitta. Alitta also has another daught...

Movie #10 : Beautiful Disaster

As the occasional Wattpad reader, I could tell right off the bat that this movie was from Wattpad. And of course when I looked it up, it was from Wattpad studios. It was even funnier when one of my friends I was watching it with started to realize she had read the book version on Wattpad! Even the names in this movie were Wattpad with the main characters being Travis Maddox and Abby Abernathy. Crazy. We decided to watched this movie because we were bored and I honestly do not regret it. The plot follows Abby running away from her gambling father to go to college. She just wanted to be a normal girl who’s uptight and wears sweaters all the time. When she gets to school, her friend America’s boyfriend Shepley (both Wattpad names) takes them to an underground fighting ring where Travis is fighting. Travis and Abby have an awkward meeting and later become unfriendly friends and Travis states he wants to date Abby. They then create a dare that if Travis wins a match with the other guy ...

Movie #9 : Red White and Royal Blue

The review you guys have all been waiting for. Or at least I've been waiting for. I've waited for this movie ever since it has been announced. The ads had gotten me hooked. I also read the book last summer and loved it. One of my friends actually saw it in theaters at an early premiere, so I was already hyped to see it. But I will still give me honest review. "Red White and Royal Blue" was originally a book written by Casey McQuiston. The movie which was released in August 2023 was directed by Matthew Lopez. The story goes that Alex, the President of the US' son, has a strong dislike for the second Prince of England, Henry. After going to the royal wedding of Henry's older brother, an incident occurs in which both of the guys end up covered in cake. To recover from this as reelection approaches, the two now must do a press tour of them together pretending to be best friends. Soon, the pretending stops, and a bond forms between them. But as this bond turns rom...

Movie #8 : Barb and Star Go To Vista Del Mar

If you want to watch a Florida version of "50 Shades of Grey" watch this film! I'm joking! I only say this because the main guy is Jamie Dornan, and he does have relations with both of the main characters. "Barb and Star Go To Vista Del Mar" was the perfect movie to watch on a plane and had tons of funny moments and an amazing cast. It also had the color scheme of cyan blue and neon pink which I loved. It was directed by Josh Greenbaum in 2021. This film's plot is just like its title. Only, with a twist. Best friends Barb, played by Annie Mumolo, and Star, played by Kirsten Wiig, decide to go to Vista Del Mar after getting fired from their jobs at a furniture store. They are looking to get their shimmer back and show off their culottes. If you don't know was culottes are, don't worry, you'll find out. There is only one problem. An evil mastermind is out to set killer mosquitos on Vista Del Mar at the same time with her lacky, Edgar, who is played...

Movie #7 : Alice, Darling

TW: Abusive Relationship, Disordered Eating  "Alice, Darling" starring Anna Kendrick as Alice was released late 2022 and was directed by Mary Nighy. I have not heard of Mary Nighy before, but I feel like I can always trust that a movie directed by a woman about women will always be good. And I was right with this film. This was another movie I watched on my flight home from France. The flight was 10 hours, so I had a lot of time. This film follows Alice, an almost 30-year-old woman dating a slightly older man named Simon. Simon is an artist who comes off as charming and kind. Alice has two friends named Tess and Sophie. For Tess' 30th birthday, Sophia invites Alice and Tess to come to her parents' lake house while they were away. It had been a while since they had last got together. Alice decided to lie to Simon, in fear of his reaction, to go to the house. Alice begins to eat disorderly and pulling out clumps of hair. During this trip, she sees flashbacks of conversa...

Movie #6 : The Super Mario Bros. Movie

Guys, I was so excited to be able to see this film. I have been waiting because by the time I came home from college, it was out of theaters. And then it cost 20$ to watch on any streaming services and my mom wasn't about to pay more money. But it was on the plane to France, so I began to watch it on the way there and completed it on the way back since I was too tired. "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" was fantastic, and I loved it and I will tell you all about it. Made earlier in 2023, this animated movie was released to a generation that grew up playing Super Mario Bros. on DS and Wii Super Mario Kart. This movie was made for nostalgia and fully accomplished that. While watching, I recognized all the characters from the games, all the places, and even Rainbow Road. It felt like I was a kid again playing these games. It was a truly fun watch I recommend for people of all ages.  It was directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic and made over $1 billion in the box office. ...

Movie #5 : Booksmart

I rewatched this movie by going to France and seeing it on Netflix. I was so happy that "Booksmart" was on it because it got taken off Hulu and I had been dying for a rewatch. It has tons of the new Hollywood seen that I am so excited to see in future movies. "Booksmart" was directed by Olivia Wilde, and I do not care if you think she is controversial for dating Harry Styles, she did an amazing job on this movie, and I hope she does it again because "Don't Worry Darling" was not it. Maybe because she casted Harry Styles.  In this 2019 coming of age movie, Amy, played by Kaitlyn Dever, and Molly, played by Beanie Feldstein, are two best friends who have studied all throughout high school to get in Ivy League colleges. Once they achieved that, they felt as though they had done the right thing by not partying to focus on school. But they soon found out that they are not the only ones going to good colleges. They realize that all the kids who partied thro...
